Freshwater Bay

Stroud House is located in the perfect spot to explore the West Wight. Within walking distance of the shops in Freshwater, we are a short hop to Yarmouth, Freshwater Bay beach or the Needles.

Set in a private garden, there are numerous walks and cycle rides suitable for all weathers immediately avaialble on the doorstep.

For the best beaches, you will want to head south to Freshwater Bay (pebbles) or Compton (sand and dinosaur footprints!). To the west lies views of the Needles from the exposed headlands at Headon Warren and Tennyson Down, and to the North, the lively sailing town of Yarmouth.

Getting Here

We are easily accessed by ferry from any of the Island's three ports. Yarmouth is the closest at under 10 minutes, while East Cowes and Fishbourne are accessible in 30-40 minutes by car.

For those under their own power, a beautiful cycle (or even walk!) is possible alongside the river from Yarmouth.

The Southern Vectis bus stop, which connects to destinations across the Island, is a short walk across neighbouring park.

Excellent location. My first visit to the Isle of Wight was an absolute delight. Our stay at Stroud House was a true treat and we felt incredibly fortunate to have stumbled upon it. Sarah's warm hospitality was evident in the lovely breakfasts she prepared for us in her charming conservatory. Her recommendations for places to visit and dine were invaluable and added immensely to our experience. What struck me most about the IOW was the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, not only among the people but in hte overall energy of the island. It was a truly rejuvenating and memorable experience.

Lovely B&B, very well situated for walking the Western end of The Island. Yarmouth just over 2 miles via the Robert Hooke trail and Freshwarter Bay only just over a mile with some lovely walking along the coast. Slept well, easy parking, the bed was comfy and the breakfasts was excellent with some interesting choices for those who are vegetarian or pescatarian. Highly recommend.
